Fred Scala looks ahead to the Tokyo Olympics with Overlander’s R160 2-stall horsebox.

Irish team rider Fred Scala has his eyes on a major prize: a spot at the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics. But getting to the biggest stage of them all requires serious miles on the road, travelling throughout Europe to some of eventing’s most prestigious competitions – and to manage these long journeys from his Cornwall base, Fred relies on his Overlander R160 2-Stall.

The perfect truck has to be adaptable, efficient, and multitalented – just like a top-level event rider. Fred’s exciting career has thus far seen him based around Ireland, the UK and the US, working with many top worldclass riders. Though his sights have long been set on the upper echelons of eventing, he’s also produced horses through to Grand Prix showjumping and has won in this sphere at the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. His eventing achievements include winning the Irish under-25 National Championship, taking a CCI3*-L at Tattersalls, and riding for his country at the Young Horse World Championships.

Now, with a much-anticipated CCI5* debut and the fight for an Olympic berth on the horizon, Fred stays true to his mantra of old: you’ve got to keep going, no matter how tough the road gets and sometimes, you’ve got to stop and enjoy the view, too. In his Overlander R160 2-Stall, that long journey to the top is a little bit smoother.

Fred not only acts as a Brand Ambassador for Overlander but also as a Sales Agent. He is more than happy to discuss the products we have available and demo the Horsebox if needed around his Cornwall base.
